The two musical gurus have been teaching people to play great music in Columbia for years!! Their students include members from bands such as: Almost Jason, The South, Under the Influence, King Hippo, Burns out Bright, Capitol Funk, Captain Easy, The Progression, and more!

NOVEMBER NOTES

We're already halfway through November and the year's almost over but we've got some exciting announcements to make. Please take a second to read...

WE'VE GOT A NEW TEAM MEMBER at the studio who's come in to work alongside Robert and I. He has been a student with Robert for several years and has been teaching guitar and bass for the last four years. As fate would have it, his name is.... Robert F. Newton! Robert is now accepting new students ten years old and up and for all ability levels. He is open to all styles including jazz, offers Music Theory/Harmony instruction, and the Robert Newton Vision Systems.

UPCOMING SHOWCASE!! Saturday, December 8th at Headliners in the VIsta, start time TBD, $5 cover. Please mark your calendars and send a reply to let me know if you will be able to perform on this date if you haven't confirmed already.

MORE EXCITING NEWS: Most of you already know that Robert Newton used to perform regularly with his group, most recently at Monterey Jack's in 5 points (now 5points Pub). After a hiatus of over 5 years he's back out and has enlisted former band mate Tyrone "T-Bone" Mack (bass), and drummer Ivan Edwards.

You can find them Every Thursday night at The Bistro Martini Bar from 8-11. These shows will also offer opportunities for students to sit in with the band and to get to know fellow students and Robert asks that his students plan to come at least once a month.

The Bistro is located at the Flight Deck in Lexington and offer a full dinner menu. Directions from downtown Columbia: Take I-20 West to exit 55, take Rt. 6 North towards Lexington then turn Left on Main St. (Route 1) Follow Main St. and cross the intersection of Rt 1 and 378, take an immediate left into the Shops at Flight Deck.

COMING SOON: Live Band Karaoke! Every Wednesday at 5points Pub 9:30-12:30. An opportunity to sing from a list of songs with a full band backing you up. OR, prepare a song you want to "sit in" on with your instrument. Come sing and/or play guitar with a live band of Robert Newton students.

One last note: I'll be putting an email gig-calendar together as a resource for any students who want to let more people know about performances they're doing. If you have any upcoming shows you'd like everyone to know about, send me an email with the info and I'll add them.
